Sangay National Park (PNS) is a natural gem located in the central-eastern region of Ecuador, spanning the provinces of Morona Santiago, Tungurahua, Chimborazo, Cañar, and Azuay. This UNESCO World Heritage site is characterized by its impressive altitudinal range, from the icy peaks of Sangay Volcano at 5,230 meters above sea level, through páramos over 3,000 meters, to the lush tropical forests at 1,000 meters above sea level.
On our tour, we will visit this wonderful park twice to appreciate its different ecosystems. First, we will explore the high páramos at the beautiful Atillo Lagoons, where the panoramic views and fresh mountain air will take your breath away. Later, we will delve into the tropical forest region at the Chagualyaku Reserve, located at 1,000 meters above sea level, where the biodiversity and greenery of the jungle will offer you a completely different and fascinating experience.
At Pachamama Roads, we invite you to immerse yourself in the rich and diverse culture of Ecuador through unique and authentic experiences. One of the highlights of our journey is the private presentation of the Pase del Niño, one of the most important religious festivities in Riobamba.
The Pase del Niño is a celebration that combines religious devotion with the colorful and musical parades of traditional comparsas. The Divine Child is carried from its oratory by the priostes to a Franciscan church on the Loma de Quito, where a special mass is held. After the ceremony, the Child is returned to its oratory, accompanied by a vibrant parade of musicians and dancers in traditional costumes.
